FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY

301 West Court Street Woodstock VA 22664 - 540-459-2707

Gene was born in Washington, D.C., and grew up in northern Virginia. "Throughout my early years my family would 'head for the mountains' almost every weekend from spring through fall. The mountains were the Blue Ridge Mountains and they still retain the same magic and beauty I felt and saw as a child.”

In 1983 Gene moved to
Woodstock, Virginia in the Shenandoah Valley where he established a studio, darkroom and gallery. "I was drawn once again to the special combination of gentleness, beauty and timelessness of Virginia's mountains and valleys. The changes of season, weather and quality of light provide an endless source of visual pleasure.” more info

Shaker Boxes- Handcrafted Reproductions

ITS NOT JUST ANOTHER BOX.

Its an Old Dominion Shaker Box.
http://shakergiftboxes.com/index.html ...This is the box you give when you have run out the usual gift ideas. When you want to give someone special, or yourself, a handcrafted instant heirloom that will be treasured for years to come, this is the gift to give.

My name is Doug Bell, and I make each oval box with the same care and methods the Shakers did. Beginning with cherry or maple sides, I use birds eye maple, cherry,  sycamore, or other unique wood tops to create useful, functional, timeless creations, using a careful 15 step process. The boxes are steam bent to give them their distinctive oval shape and finished with 3 protective coats of polyurethane.

Boxes can be used for business cards, paper clips, I pods, stamps, jewelry, nic nacs, tea bags, cigars, almost any item you can imagine, and at the same time, its a beautiful decoration for a  coffee or end table.

I also include a risk free, return policy. If you are not completely satisfied with your Old Dominion Shaker Box you may return it any time for a full refund that includes return shipping costs.

The gift you give can say a lot about your values and the high regard you have for the person receiving it. How you decorate your home is a reflection of your personality. I hope you consider an Old Dominion Shaker box, carrier, or tray, for your next gift or home accent.

Every Shaker box is created using a 15 step process from start to finish. The box band fingers are hand cut, then boiled in hot water before they are bent to their distinctive oval shape. Please specify type of box top you wish for your classic box selection below. Cherry, Bird's eye Maple, or Lacewood...

ShakerGiftBoxes.com - Order Online, Made in Virginia

I loved all the different types of wood the shaker boxes are available in. I bought three small boxes with lids at a holiday show for gifts. I liked the quality and wood so much I kept two for myself and gave one as a gift. I look forward to the next show! -Teresa W

All orders of 3 or more boxes are discounted by 10%. MY PERSONAL GUARANTEE: if you are not completely satisfied with your Shaker box purchase, I will cheerfully refund your money, plus return shipping costs.

Shenandoah Valley Music

Shenandoah Valley House Concerts
Have us help you put on a show! Call 540-984-8190

Scott Christopher Murray is an accomplished singer/songwriter and a veteran of the acoustic music scene. Raised in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, Scott grew up absorbing its rich story-telling tradition and Appalachian music legacy. His first album "The Old Man Dreams," a collection of original material, was a regional success.

Scott moved to Nashville in the early 1990's. While there, he opened for Emmylou Harris, Bruan Bowers, Goose Creek Symphony and Suzy Bogguss. He also shared the state with Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett, Shelby Lynn, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Kathy Mattea and Henry Gross. Scott was named Grand Prize winner at the Gumtree Folk Festival, and was a regular performer at Townes Van Zandt's bar in Nashville.

In 1999, DCD Records released "Short Stories". Since that time, Scott has opened for 10,000 Maniacs, Dave Mason and David Wilcox. In 2000 "Short Stories" was nominated for best contemporary folk album of the year. more info

What is a house concert? A house concert is a chance to experience music by local musicians in a warm and intimate environment. It's when someone opens up their home and invites you into their living room to share in a performance by a few of our talented musicians.

Why would anyone do this? There are few venues where people can go to experience great music in a close and friendly environment. Great music makes us happy and we want to share that with others around us. These events allow us to give exposure to some incredible Virginia and traveling musicians that are a part of our worldwide network whose talents we truly believe in and wish to help promote.

How much does this cost? We have a "recommended donation" of $15-20 per person but we realize every situation is different and we can certainly make concessions to fit your individual needs.

Let us know your musician needs and we will get on it right away.

Music Instruction Shenandoah Valley

Phil Zuckerman - Guitar Instructor - Phone 540-514-0788

I specialize in helping beginning students to learn chords and strumming patterns, which is what guitarists do most of the time. This prepares them to be able to play along with recordings or other musicians. If the student is interested in something else, I am happy to discuss that with them. I teach rock, blues, alternative, country, popular music.

I have been teaching at Shenandoah Music Store since 1986. I also do guitar repairs for the store. I have played as a professional musician since 1965 in various bands. I am a graduate of James Wood High School and attended Shenandoah Conservatory of Music in 1974. I was born and raised in Winchester. -

Shenandoah Valley Poetry Connection
by
Dan Dutterer

Dan is focused on educating and entertaining students by showing them what poetry has to offer, through the magic of theatre and live performance. Dan finds fulfillment working with children (some would say he’s still a kid himself!) He believes that kids are able to absorb and understand an amazing amount, if one takes the time to explore the world of literature, poetry and art with them, on the appropriate level. Dan has offered his unique take on poetry in many places, such as the YWCA, Books-a-Million, the FENCE Foothills Storytelling Festival, Barnes & Noble, Dickens in the Village, the Montford Arts Festival, and schools across the southeast.

Pop Art Advertising is a favoured commercial method promotion in today's world. Art in Advertising happened out of a crucial time - it was inseparable from the prosperous and affluent era post-World War II. It was a time of enormous economic growth for the States and America was fast becoming a consumer-orientated society. It was the beginning of the age of commercial manipulation, celebrities, exhibitionism and instant success.

Services offered include logo design, brochures, posters, CD & DVD covers, labels (pricing stickers), indoor point-of-purchase displays, flyers, menu designs and ads. Jayne also works with other local businesses to provide artwork for signs, banners, websites, etc.

Living the years of my youth in the beautiful rural farmland of Eastern Iowa, and the Mississippi River Valley, both my love of painting and the ever changing landscape began to grow.  I now live in rural Virginia, at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, where I find a myriad of changing landscapes.  These range from the Mountains, through the Virginia Piedmont, down to the Eastern Shore, and on to the beautiful vistas of the ocean.
