Gene was born in Washington, D.C., and
grew up in northern Virginia. "Throughout my early
years my family would 'head for the mountains' almost
every weekend from spring through fall. The mountains
were the Blue Ridge Mountains and they still retain the
same magic and beauty I felt and saw as a child.
In 1983 Gene moved to Woodstock,
Virginia in the Shenandoah Valley where he
established a studio, darkroom and gallery. "I was
drawn once again to the special combination of gentleness,
beauty and timelessness of Virginia's mountains and
valleys. The changes of season, weather and quality of
light provide an endless source of visual pleasure.

Dan is focused on educating and
entertaining students by showing them what poetry has to
offer, through the magic of theatre and live performance.
Dan finds fulfillment working with children (some would
say hes still a kid himself!) He believes that kids
are able to absorb and understand an amazing amount, if
one takes the time to explore the world of literature,
poetry and art with them, on the appropriate level. Dan
has offered his unique take on poetry in many places,
such as the YWCA, Books-a-Million,
the FENCE Foothills Storytelling Festival,
Barnes & Noble, Dickens in
the Village, the Montford Arts Festival,
and schools across the southeast.

Pop Art Advertising is a
favoured
commercial method promotion in today's world. Art in Advertising
happened out of a crucial time - it was inseparable from
the prosperous and affluent era post-World War II. It was
a time of enormous economic growth for the States and
America was fast becoming a consumer-orientated society.
It was the beginning of the age of commercial
manipulation,
celebrities, exhibitionism and instant success.

My name is Christy Dillon, and I have been a
longarm quilter since 2001. I upgraded to a Statler Stitcher in 2006 and because I couldn't find the
patterns I needed that would work with the quilts that I
had to quilt I began designing and digitizing patterns to
meet my needs. I began to build up quite a few patterns
and so it is with great pleasure that I am now offering
these designs to you from My Creative Stitches.

Guitar Lesson Information
Thank you for inquiring about guitar lessons. Please call
after reading the enclosed information to schedule a no
pay consultation or guitar lessons. Lessons are held
beside Shenandoah Music Store. I meet once a week for a
half hour lesson. I can schedule a no pay consultation to
test students under the age of 13 to determine if they
are ready to start guitar lessons..
I specialize in helping beginning students to learn
chords and strumming patterns, which is what guitarists
do most of the time. This prepares them to be able to
play along with recordings or other musicians. If the
student is interested in something else, I am happy to
discuss that with them. I teach rock, blues, alternative,
country, popular music.
The lesson fee is $90 per month. Family discounts are
available.
I have been teaching at Shenandoah Music Store since 1986.
I also do guitar repairs for the store. I have played as
a professional musician since 1965 in various bands. I am
a graduate of James Wood High School and attended
Shenandoah Conservatory of Music in 1974. I was born and
raised in Winchester.
If you've never played the guitar and want to learn how,
this class is for you! Start from scratch and
methodically learn the basics of guitar playing. If
you have played before, you may take this class as a
refresher course or just to review the basics. My
GOAL IS TO MAKE GUITAR PLAYING FUN!
You will
learn:
-- to play at least 10 basic chord fingerings;
-- strumming and finger techniques for accompanying songs;
-- a variety of songs and styles;
-- basic skills, terminology, and theory.
You will

-- natural and accidental notes in the First Position;
-- arpeggios in the First Position as time permits;
-- chord accompaniments:

Live Music: Jazz, Folk, Blues,
Bluegrass, Rock, Swing and more. ShenandoahMusic.coms' growing list of USA musicians will perform at
your home, office, weddings, anniversaries or festivals.
What is
a house concert? A house concert is a chance to
experience music by local musicians in a warm and
intimate environment. It's when someone opens up their
home and invites you into their living room to share in a
performance by a few of our talented musicians.
Why
would anyone do this? There are few venues where
people can go to experience great music in a close and
friendly environment. Great music makes us happy and we
want to share that with others around us. These events
allow us to give exposure to some incredible Virginia and
traveling musicians that are a part of our worldwide
network whose talents we truly believe in and wish to
help promote.
How much
does this cost? We have a "recommended donation"
of $10-20 per person but we realize every situation is
different and we can certainly make concessions to fit
your individual needs.
The folks at ShenandoahMusic.com are
always interested in working with newer musicians moving
to the Valley and in helping to get more music venues off
the ground.
Let us know your musician needs
and we will get on it right away.
